Low Effort Blueberry Bush Perfect for Milder Zones

The Sharpblue Blueberry plant is an early-ripening variety that gives you delicious, fresh fruit earlier in the season! This low-effort, cold-hardy and heat-resistant plant is perfect for anyone.

Enjoy its medium-sized, robust berries as early as May! Since it ripens early, you can savor the sweet fruit for much longer and add it to your smoothies, pies, and other healthy, tasty treats. Plus, blueberries are packed with antioxidants and vitamins, so with this easy-to-grow plant, you’ll have your very own fruit orchard.

This blueberry plant requires little effort to maintain. It can also withstand cooler temperatures, meaning typical climates can house this fruit bush. And since it’s self-pollinating, you won’t need other varieties to ensure bounties of blueberries.

Enjoy your very own blueberry patch with the Sharpblue Blueberry Bush. Plant it in containers, gardens, or use it as a patio plant—grab yours before before they're gone!

Pollination Info

Sharpblue Blueberry Bush Pollination

Sharpblue Blueberry Bushs are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional Sharpblue Blueberry Bush will drastically increase the size of your crop.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Prepare the ground well before planting, and plant in an area where it can receive either partial sunlight or full sunlight. Sharpblue Blueberries do best in a slightly acidic soil environment, though they can tolerate sandier soils than most other blueberry varieties.

In alkaline soil, add ammonium sulfate for best results. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is about 1-2 inches below the soil surface. When planting, add generous amounts of peat but no fertilizer. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly. Blueberries can also be grown in large pots and containers if compost is used. In spring, feed with sulphate of ammonia, sulphate of potash, bone meal and top-dress with compost.

2. Watering: These bushes have moderate watering needs and should be watered at least once a week, more often during periods of extreme heat.

3. Fertilizing: Acidic fertilizers are the best for Sharpblue Blueberries. Choose a fertilizer marketed for azaleas as they have the same acidity needs.

4. Pruning: Prune in winter, cutting out dead or damaged branches. Prune branches back by about 1/2 of their length around planting time. Pruning typically is only needed every three years.

5. Pollination: The Sharpblue Blueberry Bush is self-fertile; however, it is more productive when planted near other blueberry plants.
