A Gorgeous House Plant With Variegated Leaves and Fast Growth

A cultivar of the Rubber Plant, the Ficus Tineke is a stunning house plant that isn’t afraid to flaunt its glossy, variegated leaves. The oversized leaves have a creamy white edge and a light green inside, with pink and red-hued stems that set it apart from other Ficus plants.

The Ficus Tineke is a no-fuss house plant. All it requires is a location with bright, indirect light and an average amount of water to be happy and healthy. It’s an excellent option for those who want a tropical, glamorous house plant without all the work.

While typically enjoyed as a houseplant, it can also grow in warm and humid climates outdoors. Just remember its fast growth rate! It can grow up to 24 inches a year, quickly becoming a tall and mighty plant in the house, garden, or patio.

With the addition of the Ficus Tineke, your home could look picture-perfect. Adding a bright pop of green and a large house plant to your living space can instantly liven up the room. Order your Ficus Tineke online today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting:  Ficus Tineke likes well-draining soil. Regular potting soil designed for indoor plants will do just fine. Place the plant in a pot with drainage holes in a spot with bright, indirect light. Too much light can scorch the leaves, while not enough can dim the pinkish colors.

Due to its fast growth rate, the Ficus Tineke will need repotting once a year. Check to see when the roots peek through the drainage holes; if so, it’s due to be repotted. If it dries out too fast, this can also be an indicator.

2. Watering: Ficus Tineke prefers slightly moist soil. But do not waterlog it! The Ficus Tineke can be sensitive to overwatering. Before watering, test the top layer of soil with your finger. If it is dry up to your knuckle, it’s time to water it. Ficus Tineke also likes high humidity, so avoid placing it by any heaters or dry areas in the house.

3. Fertilizing:  Fertilize your Ficus Tineke monthly with houseplant fertilizer during the spring and summer. Stop fertilizing in the fall and winter as the plant enters a dormancy period.

Due to their fast growth, only regularly fertilize the plant if it gets the right amount of light. Otherwise, it may become leggy.

When fertilizing, also use this time as a reminder to dust off the leaves and rotate the plant.

4. Pruning:  Prune your Ficus Tineke to control and maintain the shape of the plant. Also, prune any yellow or dead leaves and branches.
