The Only Climbing Hydrangea Variety

Why Climbing Hydrangeas?

A vigorous climbing vine for arbors, pergolas and beyond, the Climbing Hydrangea delivers beauty unlike any other. It has a slow-growing, shrubby habit until it's established, and then it takes off...producing long, fast-growing stems that blanket your garden in unmatched elegance.

The only climbing variety available, this Hydrangea is so vigorous that it can cloak your home in no time. And since it's deciduous, it shades walls in summer but lets the sun in during winter, thus saving energy. With its clinging habit, it doesn't require a trellis and extends across any surface with ease.

White lacecap blooms fill your garden throughout the summer. Your yard will be full of life and color all throughout the summer as your Climbing Hydrangea blossoms. The dark green leaves and creamy petals make an excellent contrast against your landscape's backdrop, providing inexpensive yet elegant cover that's second to none.

From the cold of Chicago to the humidity of Atlanta, it thrives. Resistant to a light freeze and tolerant of fairly hot temperatures, your Hydrangea can flourish in most conditions. So, despite its delicate appearance, it's unbelievably strong.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Your Hydrangea will grow best in moist, well-drained soil. There's no need to amend your soil when planting. Be sure to also plant in a sunny area with an area to cling, such as a wall, trellis, pergola, or arbor.

When you're ready to plant, dig a hole that's about twice the size of your Hydrangea's root ball and just as deep, place your Hydrangea, and then backfill the soil. Finally, water the surrounding area to settle the roots.

If you're planting in a container, use supports for clinging purposes, select a pot that's about twice the size of your plant's shipped container, and use organic soil. Finally, place in an area that gets plenty of sunlight.

2. Watering: Water your Hydrangea weekly for the first 6 months. After this time, you will only need to water your plant when you get less than 1 inch of rain during the week.

3. Fertilizing: You can fertilize your Hydrangea every spring with a 10-10-10 fertilizer.

4. Pruning: Prune only in late autumn or early winter as the flowers begin to fade and dry.
