Sweet, lavender blossoms contrast perfectly against the dark leaves. In spring, small sweet-pea shaped, lavender flowers bloom and look stunning against the deep purple leaves. Whether you plant this tree alone or amongst others in your garden, it will certainly add interest and ornamental value.

Very dense foliage gives it a full, healthy appearance. While some trees’ sparse leaves and branches can make them appear thin and unhealthy, the Black PearlRedbud is a very dense tree. The leaves and branches grow close together, adding a sense of fullness and vitality to your landscape.

Irregular branches offer a dramatic winter display. This tree is a showstopper even in its dormant season. The irregular growth patterns of the branches form a captivating silhouette during cold, winter months - a perfect contrast to your evergreens.

The manageable height makes this a perfect tree for any yard. Even smaller yards can benefit from the Black PearlRedbud as it is a semi-dwarf variety, growing only to 15-20 ft. Plant them near your yard’s edge or driveway to add a captivating entry to your home.

Since the Black PearlRedbud is the newest variety, they will sell out very quickly. Don’t hesitate to buy yours today!

Planting & Care

Choose a site that is 6 ft away from existing structures and 3 ft away from fences. Make sure you plant your Black Pearl?‹? Redbud in a place that gets full sun and a little bit of afternoon shade. Also make sure the soil is well-draining. Clear an area of 3 ft. and remove plants, grass, debris and weeds. You can incorporate compost into the soil before planting to improve growth rates. Dig a hole twice as big as the root ball. Loosen the roots and plant. Fill the rest of the hole with soil and water. Use a total of 10 gallons of water when planting. Add 3 inches thick around the planting site, but stay 4 inches away from the trunk.

Watering: During the establishment period, water as needed, but do not overwater. Redbuds do not need excessive water to thrive as they are very drought tolerant.

Pruning: There’s no need to prune the Redbud, but if you want, you can prune in the dormant season to get rid of any unwanted branches or growth.
